Travel Tip

Keep a pack of Bloody Mary sticks in your carry-on, backpack, or fanny pack. They take up zero space and save you from possible bland Bloody Mary mix the airline just cant seem to part with: Looking at you Mr/Mrs. T's (ha). And if you're craving a pre flight Bloody at the airport bar, you already know - Devil Daves stick packs can add or adjust that libation to your liking - Just bring extra, because you will definitely make new friends once they see what you're using!

Cabo San Lucas Field Test: Stick Packs Meet Clamato

On a recent trip to Cabo San Lucas, I put Devil Daves stick packs through the ultimate real-world test, mixing them with the Top 3 flavors from the local tiendas. And here's something I didn't fully realize how regional Clamato was until I started hunting the delicious liquid around the world: the flavors are Global. You won't find the same lineup in the States, Canada, and Mexico. It's actually kind of fun to realize that the only way to taste every version of Clamato is to actually travel to them.

Mexico is where you get Clamato Cubano and Vuelve a la Vida, both built around bold, savory, seafood-forward flavor. The States mostly stick to Clamato Picante for heat and the now retired, Beefamato. Canada leans into their own thing entirely, with bottles like pickled bean, cucumber basil, and lime. The one bottle everybody seems to carry is Clamato Regular (the blue cap), and it's the backbone of both a Mexican michelada and a Canadian Bloody Caesar. Oh, and let's not forget, The Clam Digger! Recipe to follow on that soon!

Here's the Cabo lineup that made it into the rotation, plus the full pairing breakdown with Devil Daves stick packs:

Bold & Smoky

Clamato Cubano

Made with Maggi seasoning, Clamato Cubano brings a richer, deeper, slightly smoky profile to every pour. One stick pack plus a cold bottle of Cubano equals a next-level Michelada mix with serious depth. This was my favorite of the trip.

Paired With🍺Dos Equis Lager
Seafood Forward

Clamato Vuelve a la Vida

Translates to "return to life," and it earns the name. Briny, savory, almost a cocktail de mariscos in a bottle. The stick pack locks in the spice and balance so nothing gets overwhelmed.

Paired With🍺Pacifico Clara
The Classic

Clamato Regular (Blue Cap)

Your classic tomato + clam juice base. Clean, crushable, and the most forgiving pairing for a stick pack. Mix and pour, done. This is also the bottle you want for the half-and-half michelada below.

Paired With🍺Dos Equis
Extra Heat

Clamato Picante

Already brings chile heat out of the bottle. Pair it with one stick pack and you get a layered, slow-building burn instead of flat, one-note spice. Great for anyone who wants the heat dialed up from the start.

Paired With🍺Tecate Original

The bottles we grabbed were 473ml (16 oz), so you can grab one per round and try a new Clamato each afternoon without committing to a full jug. Our stick packs call for 12ozs of liquid per stick, but they matched perfectly with the obtained bottle size - especially if you mix ahead and let set up!

Ryan's Cabo Tip

I hit a local OXXO, Walmart or Selecto supermercado on day one and grab a couple of each Clamato bottle. I mix immediately and chill overnight. I've just built a full Bloody Mary flight for about the cost of a single resort cocktail. Money savings and guaranteed deliciousness

The Half-and-Half Michelada (Cabo Edition)

Clamato Regular (blue cap) + Devil Daves 12 oz Mixer + a cold Mexican lager = the easiest serious michelada you'll ever pour. Equal parts mixer and Clamato gives you a perfectly balanced base that isn't too thin and isn't too heavy. Add beer, ice, lime, and you're done.

What You Need

  • 6 oz Devil Daves 12 oz Mixer
  • 6 oz Clamato Regular (blue cap)
  • 1 cold Mexican lager (Modelo, Tecate, Pacifico)
  • Juice of half a lime
  • Ice
  • Chelada Chili Lime Rimmer
  • Lime wedge, Blackened Shrimp, Banderilla

How To Mix It

  1. Rim a Large Beer Stein Mug with lime juice - (Sideways at an angle works for deeper coating), and dip into Devil Daves Chili Lime Rimmer
  2. Fill the glass with ice.
  3. Pour in 6 oz Devil Daves 12 oz Mixer.
  4. Pour in 6 oz Clamato Regular (blue cap) on top.
  5. Squeeze in the juice of half a lime and give it a quick stir.
  6. Top with cold Mexican lager until full. Stir Rapidly. Garnish with lime, shrimp and Banderilla

The beauty of the half-and-half is that it adds real body to your michelada and gives you a richer, deeper tomato flavor than Clamato alone. The Devil Daves mixer brings its own briny, savory edge that layers right on top of the clam juice, so every sip tastes fuller and more complex. The ratio hits perfectly on a hot Cabo afternoon: refreshing enough to crush, substantial enough to actually taste like a proper michelada and not a watered-down beer cocktail.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I bring Devil Daves mixes on a plane?

Single serve Bloody Mary Sticks and the dry seasoning tub are dry, travel-friendly options that work well for packing. If you're flying, liquids like Blaster and the 12 oz mixer pouch are better suited for checked luggage due to standard TSA liquid limits. Always keep caps tight and consider a sealed bag for extra protection.

What Clamato varieties pair best with Devil Daves stick packs?

Based on my Cabo tasting, Clamato Cubano brings the deepest, smokiest result. Vuelve a la Vida adds briny seafood notes. Clamato Regular (blue cap) is the most versatile and forgiving. Clamato Picante dials the heat up from the start. One stick pack works with any of them, so grab a single bottle of each and experiement - You're on vacation - Live it UP!.

What is a half-and-half michelada?

It's equal parts Devil Daves Bloody Mary mixer pouch and Clamato Regular (blue cap), topped with a cold Mexican lager and lime. The Devil Daves mixer brings the seasoned backbone, the Clamato adds that classic tomato + clam juice base, and the beer lightens the whole thing up. It stretches a single 12 oz pouch into about two full micheladas.

What makes Devil Daves better than other Bloody Mary mixes?

Devil Daves is built around bold, balanced flavor and real versatility. You get a better mix experience because you can customize strength and spice level, use your preferred tomato juice or Clamato, and pack it with confidence. From style and taste to value and travel-readiness, Devil Daves is designed to beat typical bottled mixes that are bulky, messy, and locked into one flavor profile.

How do I store Devil Daves products for best freshness?

Keep dry products sealed and stored in a cool, dry place. Refrigerate liquid products after opening. For travel, keep liquids chilled in a cooler when possible and avoid extended heat exposure. Best yet - chill any of the liquids before use overnight!

Do I need to add anything else to make a great Bloody Mary?

Devil Daves is designed to deliver a complete flavor base. You can mix and pour without needing extra sauces. Garnishes and add-ons are optional, and you can customize to match your preferences and your trip vibe.

Final Tip

Pack your Bloody Mary setup like you pack your sunscreen, you'll be happy you did. Devil Daves travel formats make it easy to keep the flavor strong anywhere you land, whether it's a tailgate, campsite, beach chair, or a tropical balcony with a fridge full of Clamato beside!
